I have been doing plenty of practice of drawing from a photo of model or famous person! I do this in my sketch book! I choose the one that I like best! I love doing one that has a good interesting pose(photogentic) or they can be smiling or staring! I usually do not alway do it exactly the way it is on the photograph. Sometimes I like to drawing that person up close! I just want to know is this wrong to copy something that was already been published? I have been doing it on famous women (singer,actress or model) that like listening to! I also do it because I love their style on the photo! I do this in my own time like at home! I usually save my best drawings in the sketchbook to use in a portifolio book! I heard is called "Copywork!" I do observe once in a while but I also enjoy doing my own copy from a photo that I love on them! If I find the photo to be interesting and appealing to me I would want to do a close up drawing! I always wanted to get their likeness as much as possible in my drawing!.. I was a bit disturbed I read information on Copywork on a Drawing portrait website for
teaching art. It said artist was considered "couch potateo artist" or "Psuedo Art" What exactly does that mean?" I wonder is this good or bad? I only do this my leisture time! When I up to it! I do have talent in drawing a face! I do it if it represents beauty or attractive/style to me! This is a photo that is NOT shown or established much in the source(magazine)or etc! It this wrong? I have browse in Art websites such as DeviantArt or others and found portraits of Celebrity paintings and drawings that people have done! I wonder if it is a problem for copyright association or production when other artist copy from photography done by another artist? Is this wrong to do and have this work shown in gallery or online? Do you have to get permission to do this even if it is not the exactly like the actual photo? Is it still considered a work of Art?
