Okay So I work in Dunnes Stores, (an Irish Retail Chain) and twice a year the store does a stocktake. Most of the staff is rostered to work from around 2pm until 9pm so that after the stores closes we can count every item on the shelves!
Company policy states that nobody is allowed request the day of a stocktake off. It doesn't say anything about calling in sick....
So I'm really sick and I'm going to the doctor on wednesday, and surely I will get a doctors note... But there is a stocktake on this saturday and I really don't think I'm gonna make it in.
Also my boss had said "If anybody dares to call in sick that's their job gone!"..
So if I call in sick, could I actually get sacked or is she just saying that to scare everybody so that we all show up? Because I'm pretty sure that that would be unfair dismissal...
Will I get sacked?
