Does calling someone's argument a "straw man" mean anything if you don't explain...

...why it's a logical fallacy? ...or is brushing people's arguments aside through assigning them pretentious logical fallacy labels a logical fallacy in and of itself?

My rhetoric professor never informed me that all I needed to do in order to invalidate an opponent's logic was to say "Nice ad hominem you've got there" or "That's a straw man fallacy you just committed. You suck at logic."
Oh okay, so since it has a self-implied meaning, anyone's argument becomes a strawman (or ad hominem, reductio ad absurdum..you take your pick) the moment I say so. Got it!
