I haven't really noticed any, but I haven't been paying attention.

Does Bell have sales (like Christmas sales) for existing customers? Their web site usually has promotions for new customers, but says to call them if you are an existing customer. Is there a place to get notices for existing customer sales?

I want another 9242. Is it better to get one for 10% off or something from Futureshop or will Bell have even better deals with lower prices that also include free months of HD programming during Christmas?

Yes, the 9242/9200's often go on sale. Watch BestBuy and Futureshop closely. The sales aren't necessarily from BEV. I got mine for $449 (thanks to this site actually - another good place to watch).

Yes. If you order now they will give you the existing rate until they decide to raise it again. Thats about as good as it gets once you have signed. Call them every 6 months and tell them you are leaving and wait for them to give you some free PPV or something. Thats what we call making your own sale around here.

I was looking at Bestbuy.ca. I'm really sure that they used to have 9242s, but now they aren't even listed on their site. Futureshop and London drugs seem to be the only ones, but priced at $599 consistently.

Until they cut your umbilical cord by offering you nothing and you swallow your tounge by letting them know you were bluffing.

Until recently, new customers had better deals. Now, Ev will often give the same deal on a 1 year contract instead of 2.

I've been with Bell for 7 years paying $100/month like many others, but I've never been offered anything other than retail. I hope that changes soon. We need more competition in this industry.

If you want a deal from Bell, don't wait for a phone call. You won't get one.

If you are looking for a receiver upgrade then call Bell and ask for the same deal they are offering a new customer or you will consider switching to cable or Starchoice. This works! They don't want to lose your business.

They will transfer you to Retention Dept and make you an offer. If the offer is not satisfactory then insist on a sweeter deal. I did this with my HD PVR last year and recently for programming that was overall cheaper with Videotron cable and Bell matched the prices for a year! I know several people that have done the same.

Good luck!

i bought my new reciever from futureshop, the deal for existing customers at that time was a free 138.00 harmony remote.
There is always some kind of promotion going on.
Nothing wrong with that deal for existing customers.
I went home happy. Like a kid with a new toy...

Hey, Tom. When I bought my new Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3200 HD box a month and a half ago, it was the same deal-- a free $139 Harmony remote (Best Buy). I took them up on it because I was just going to go to a waaaay closer The Source (By Circuit City) or Rogers Video and pay the $299 and get nothing but the box itself. I don't know if Rogers has something for loyal customers, since I've either bought or was given a SA (SD) box from Rogers and later told I wasn't renting any of them from them (free rental being a VIP member, thinking it was their property and later told I own all), but I wouldn't mind getting even a *slight* discount on a SA 8300 HD PVR. lol I was *seriously* considering getting a job at Rogers Video for the employee discount!!! :p
