Does behaving morally have desirable consequences that benefit us, as a collective? Does it maximize the well being of our species, as well as help us prosper?
If you think the answer to those questions are yes, then do you think that we are motivated to be moral BECAUSE of the consequences of moral actions? Or is the benefit to acting morally (namely, making human existence more peaceful and successful) simply a side effect from some other primary reason?
Is it to our benefit that we are moral, or do we follow moral imperatives for another reason?
