...pretended to delete hard drive? There was a game that came out in the later 90s that was called virus. You would receive an email with an attachment, and when you clicked on it, it said "Are you sure you want to delete all files in C:\? If you try to click no, the mouse would not go to the no button. After 10 or so seconds, it shows a dialogue that claims to be deleting all of the files on your drive. Finally, the screen goes black. After a few moments, the word "Virus" appeared, and it turned out to be an advert for a game by that name. Cannot for the life of me find any trace of this to this day.
