Does anyone no the title of the movie where kids are taught to play computer games but

its really actual war? My friend and i were discussing this over lunch. He thinks there's a movie out there where kids are taught by generals to play war computer games but they discover they've been used to make real war. Its got somebody like mathew broddrick in it, so it must be 1980s or there abouts. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
