I am 18 years old and I have a full time job. I went into AT&T yesterday because I wanted to purchase the new iphone. I have been saving for a while to buy it but when I got there and filled out the application they said they would require a $800 dollar deposit per line. I asked why and they said they couldn't disclose that information to me. I do not have bad credit. I work full-time and have a bank account etc. It seems rediculous that anyone would want to charge $800 per line for a cell phone when even if I did default on the account the bill could never reach $800. Could an unreasonable deposit for a cell phone contract be considered discrimination since I am a teenager. The only way I could ever think of them justifying this cost would be if I had defaulted on a contract before or have collection bills or something which I do not have. Any insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
