There is a chance that I may have to replace the head on my mom's 2000 Miata. I would really prefer to go the junk yard route to get the replacement part for it and I do not know what all years the same head was used. I believe the motor was changed from a 1.6 to a 1.8 in 1994 but I am not sure about the head. I would greatly appreciate any knowledge you could share about it.
To Old Man Dirt:
I appreciate your information.I don't know that having the head rebuilt is an option. A little over a year a ago my mom called me complaining that the car was running poorly. When I looked at the car a spark plug had actually blown out and the threads in the head where stripped. I tapped new threads and inserted a sleeve that is sold in a kit that is sold at any auto parts store. The car has done fine since then; until today when the car tripped a fault saying that there is a miss on cylinder 3 (the same cylinder from the previous problem). I checked the plug and wire and they seemed okay. I cleared the fault and now it is running fine again.. I guess my concern is that the "rig" that was done last year is failing and I am trying to prepare for the worst (replacing the head). Thanks
