does anyone know what thread i need to pull the armature from my 1970's

chrysler outboard motor? i have a 1970's chrysler autolectric 20hp outboard and need to get under the flywheel , but this means pulling the armature from its shaft .
i know the size of the thread is 12mm but it is imperial and tighter than a standard metric 12mm .
someone please help as im totally stumped
 
just a though but it is not rammed into a phosphor bronze bush at all with a key way cut into the shaft and key inserted? 12mm would be metric imperial is different in gauge maybe that needs identifying a good engineering company may help with the gauge info
