Ok well,
I'm going by just what I remember. That it was on VHS and was pretty bad picture quality tells me it was made somewhere between the mid 1970s and 1990s, but probably 1980s-90s. It ends up being about this black, tar-like monster with a sickle or foot-shaped head. It might be a Japanese or American movie.
I *think* it was called "The Beginning" but even Googling it as a horror movie I got zero related returns.
And as I remember this movie was by no means good. I was very young when I saw it, so I have no idea what the plot is! I just remember this one scene with a little girl in a park/outside and this black blob.
And it isn't "The Blob", the monster has arms and legs.
