There was this chain mail I got years ago. It was something along the lines of a girl asked her boyfriend if he would die for her and he said yes. She asked him over and over and the answer remained the same. One day she broke it off with her boyfriend and disappeared. He looked everywhere for her and one day a friend asked him if he had heard what happened to his ex. He replied no and the guy proceeded to tell him that his girlfriend had cancer and she was dying. The boyfriend went to the hospital and asked her why didn't she tell him. She said something along the lines of "I wanted to know that you still loved me and I didn't want you to see me like this." Well then the girl dies and the boyfriend commits suicide. In his note he says something along the lines of "I told her I would die for her and I did." This is a very meaningful poem or story and I can't find it anywhere and I don't remember the name of it. Please any help would be appreciated. And if you have any other recommendations about poems similar to these I'd be happy to hear of them. Thanks in advance.
