So a few years ago I read this great book at the library. It was about the end of the world and people getting on a spacehip to go to a different planet. It was from a little girls point of view and I believe she was about 9-11. I'm not positive but on the cover I believe the little girl was sitting in a field of wheat looking at the sky.
So the book starts out on the day everyone is leaving earth and the little girl is talking abot how the sky is a greyish purple like it always is. Then I believe they tell you about the journey. The girl says the journey will take several years and her older brother/sister will be 18 when the journey is over. Then I don't really remeber what happens.
On the ship they have a supply of food and animals to play with. I remember the little girl playing with the bunnies with a friend. On the journey each person can take one book with them. The little girl refuses to tell anyone what's in her book.
Eventually they land on the planet and have a few men survey it in an airplane. They realize the planet is much smaller than earth and covered in a glass like wheat. Soon they start running out of food and all the pets begin dying. The food is rationed and the two children are very hurngry. They can't resist and bake a bread from the wheat. The father is shocked but the girls tell him the bread is fine. From then on everyone on the settlement eats bread.
The new planet is boring and the books are beginning to fall apart. The father gets the children a copy of Grims fairy Tales. Eventually the youngest girls book is opened and it's revealed that she was keeping a journal.
That's all I remember.
