Does anyone know the correct fuel pressures for a 1999 Ford Contour 2.0L? Car won't

start.? Car won't start and have narrowed the problem down to either the PCM or possibly the fuel pressure. The pressure ultimately gets to 38PSI after turning the ignition to on a few times. After cranking it's around the mid 30's. The specs from the Haynes manual seem generic and do not specify 2.0 or the 2.5L engine and do not discuss the pressure before or while cranking, only the idle pressures and hold pressures.

38 PSI is fine when the key is cycled on - however, if it drops while you're cranking it, that's not normal. You will have to diagnose why the fuel pump isn't maintaining the pressure during crank - while cranking the engine and after it fires up, the fuel pump should run steady and maintain 38 PSI.

should be 38 - 42 psi anything less might be a plugged fuel filter or a weak in tank fuel pump .
It should go right up to full line pressure provided you are checking it at the port on the fuel rail before cranking and drop by no more than 2 psi.
fuel wont pass through the injectors when they open at less than 38psi
on most cars .
If the pressure drops when cranking the injectors are opening .The pressure is supposed to be a constant with no more than a 2 psi drop while running at all engine speeds.
