Does anyone know of any tests that can detect metal in lung tissue?

My father passed away in January this year from Pulmonary Fibrosis.
It was the general belief of consultants and doctors that this was caused by metal dust in the lung tissue from previous employment (namely Chrome Oxide).
There may be others such as nickel, cobalt, aluminium oxide etc
Basically I need to try and find out if there are any tests available that may be able to detect this metal dust in the lung tissue.
My fathers lungs have been stored pending further investigation and we want to get closure on this asap so any help would be appreciated.
