Eureka! The water displaced by the truck equals the weight of the truck. The Volume of the water displaced is (4.34 m)(5.9m)(.0312m).
Find the weight of that volume of water.
Unless the truck fell off the bridge, the acceleration due to gravity isn't necessary.

Does anyone know how to do this problem?

A small ferry boat is 4.34 m wide and 5.9 m long. When a loaded truck pulls onto it, the boat sinks an additional 3.12 cm into the river. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s^2. What is the weight of the truck? Answer in units of kN.

Thanks!
