I need to find out how the Ford Econoline speedometers work.
Does the PCM control what the speedometer reads?
Is the Speedometer connected to the PCM?
Would wind affect the speedometer reading?
Would the position of the accelerator be sensed and give a false reading on the speedometer?
Can the PCM have been miscalculated at the factory where the speedometer is off by 4 MPH?
Does the U.S have an acceptable range for the speedometer be off?
If the tire size on the van from the factory were oversized by request would that make the van off as well?
I would like it if someone who is knowledgeable in this area would respond, I am a sort of kind of weekend mechanic. I have searched the internet and have found some information, but I have not come across what I would need to prove or disprove this information.
