the blend door actuator is not too difficult on an 02 taurus...remove the integrated control panel (radio), then lower or remove the glove box and passenger side lower panel insulator, and the actuator can then be accessed...as long as it is a defective actuator, and not a broken blend door, it shouldn't take more than about 1 to 11/2 hour

I am sure it must be at least a 2-3 hour job. At $75 an hour you are looking a perhaps $225 labor only. A local mechanic should be able to quote this for you by simply looking it up on the computer repair estimator though.
