Does anyone know how i can like format my flash drive?

i had this flash drive for a while and i use it for school. but i think it picked up a virus somehow because whenever i use it on my computer, some of my programs don't work, like my windows media player. so is there any way to format it or something to take the virus out?
 
download a well-known anitvirus software or malware remover and scan the disk.
then u can go my my computer, right click on the drive, and click format
