this is because i just found out that there were civilizations prior to contact with europeans. all my life i was left to believe in my mostly white orphanage that before contact with europeans black people used just stone tools. these are some of the west african civilizations was the hausa city states in nothern nigeria that traded with arabic north africa, also the huge aro confederacy of democratic igbo villages, the yoruba benin civilization all in nigeria. there was also the old kingdom of ghana and the warlike ashanti nation that resisted the british colonizers with such bravery and honour. i just found out my tribe is igbo and in their culture they have a saying 'igbo ha we eze' meaning the igbo have no king. as the igbos were smart enough to realize the importance of a democracy. i also found out why most african tribes had mostly villages rather than cities like the europeans, this was because they were smart enough to realise that too many people living in one place vastly increased the chance of people getting malaria. so if u know about anymore west african civilizations write about it. i also hard about the great zulu warriors of south africa.
