Does anyone know any apartment complexes, that are decent, that do NOT run criminal background checks?

I am looking for a one bedroom apartment in the Inland Empire of Southern CA and am sick and tired of renting out rooms and am having trouble finding guest homes that are available in my area. I am looking to rent a 1br apartment, cost is no concern, but am coming to find that many of them are running criminal background checks. I have not been convicted of a felony, nor do I have any drug-related or sex-related convictions. Does anyone know where I could rent a one bedroom apartment, keep to myself, pay my rent, go to work/school, and live happily ever after without them running my criminal background and automatically denying my application because of some misdemeanor theft charges YEARS ago in Las Vegas?????
