I don't know what was the moral?

There's this African Elephant who wins a scholarship to Balliol College, Oxford - he studies the finer points of the history of England, in particular covering the changes in faith over the centuries. For his Post Graduate studies he reads Divinity and in everything he does he easily comes top. Upon completion of his studies and qualification he applies for and is accepted as a curate to a parish priest in a beautiful group of villages in the English Lake District well within a convenient distance from Coniston Water and Windermere. His Vicar is a very good parish priest and in addition is a very keen sailor so he is delighted to have a highly qualified curate to stand in for him when he goes sailing.
The curate has a beautiful singing voice whereas the Vicar is only average in this department. After the curate has been in office for several weeks it becomes apparent that those services served by the Vicar are attended by far fewer persons than those served by the curate.
In his report to his Bishop the Vicar mentions this fact and asks for the advice of His Grace.
Included in the Bishop's reply is a 'moral' for the Vicar to bear in mind. Have a guess as to what this 'moral' was.
