The Tribute is made by Ford which is sold as the Escape. My father has an Escape & my neighbor also has a Tribute. Neither vehicle has been a problem. They both also have the V6 engine. If I were to look at one new, I would for sure take a pass on the 4 cylinder model just b/c it's a heavy vehicle. Dad has been wanting a hybrid version of the Escape for some time, but it's pricey. But yes, they are good suv's imo & I encourage you to get one if your heart is set on it. Oh & Mercury sells the same suv under the Mariner name. They are all good cars. Dad's is 5 yrs old now with no signs of any issues that need to be addressed. Our neighbors Tribute has been good for him as well. G'luck!
