Does anyone have some tips on how to make the car buying experience a little...

...less painful? I'm in the market for a car, don't know whether I'm going to get a used or a new one. I've noticed that things have gotten even more crazy at dealerships than when my mother bought her last car back in 2008. The salesman I dealt with today was a psycho who wouldn't STFU! I had to walk out of there because I could overhear the salesman complaining about me with his manager and his financial guy in the next office. Very rude! I didn't realize I was such a pain! Do any of you have any good experiences to share? Or can someone explain to me why buying a car has to be such a hassle?

The car dealers work off commission. If they don't think you are too interested, then they kinda ignore you like you never even came in. It's all about the money they get from selling a car. They don't care about the customers, just the money that they make off you. I'm sorry to hear your bad experience, and I had the same kinda thing at my local Honda dealer. He wouldn't even look anything up for me because I said "ohhh I'm just kinda seeing what's out there..".
