Just wondering if only my parents are like this. I am the first in my family to go to college (and stay in college). I work in retail part-time and go to school full-time. I can't afford to move out, because I can't work enough hours, being that I'm in school.
My mom constantly asks me if I've dropped out because she thinks I'm lying about only having each class twice a week. She thinks it should be like high school, all day everyday. I'm a college senior (will have an extra year).
Instead of just asking me questions or even listening to how I explain things, they ask my aunt who went to nursing school. Because my aunt currently takes one class at a time (she has been working for quite a while), we don't have the same experience. Furthermore, we don't go to the same school, are not the same people, and do not study the same things.
My parents also stopped me from going away to school (told my uncle, after we had worked out everything, that he shouldn't cosign for me because they didn't like my major), with the reasoning that "what if I don't make any friends."
I just wanted to know if there are other people out there who are in college, who have parents that just don't get it?
