I have collected hair from my two long-haired dogs. I've heard they both have the right type of hair to be spun. (One is a Great Pyrenees and the other is a Bichon-type breed similar to a Bolognese.)
I collected the hair with the intention of having someone else spin it but have since decided to give it a try with a drop spindle.
I have a few questions if anyone has experience with spinning..
If I'm hand carding with carding brushes how do I get the really long roving? I'm not sure how I get from the little fat bunch from what comes off my carding brushes to a super long length of roving.
Also, am I supposed to "set" my skein of single spun yarn right after it's spun AND after I ply it with another single spun yarn?
One more question, when spinning pet hair should I ply it with another fiber or is it ok if I spin two singles of pet hair together?
I realize not alot of people have the knowledge base of doing this so I may not get many replies but I'm having a hard time finding resources to answer my questions so any websites which would answer my questions would be really helpful as well since I haven't been able to find any.
Thanks!
