I am just starting to show, and have put off telling my boss, because I am the only female in the office, and have heard from past employees that I will most likely be fired when I finally tell him. I guess previous women have been "let go", under false reasoning and accusations, when they told my boss about having a baby on board. The company I work for is family owned and run, with only 20 employees. I do have maternity leave through the insurance provided by my job, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to use it. Is there any way to protect myself from being fired and losing my insurance? Is there any way to keep my job at least until the baby gets here? I planned to go back to work after the baby, but with everything I've heard, I don't know if that will even matter to my boss. Any advice or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
