Does anyone else think this election seems a lot like the final season of The West Wing?

Think about it: A young, inexperienced minority candidate(Jimmy Smits as Matt Santos) who came out of nowhere to win a hotly contested democratic primary, against a much older, moderate, experienced Republican senator who isn't liked by the conservative base of his party (Alan Alda as Arnold Vinick)

If you haven't seen it, you should, you will be amazed at how similar the two stories are. The season ends with Jimmy Smits' character winning the election by the way.
