Does anyone else see light as a symbol in the dexter series?

whenever dexter is surrounded by a green light it seems he is about to kill. Whenever he is in red light something bad is going to happen to him. (season 4 first or second episode) he got into a car accident. I am pretty sure this is accurate please help me out and let me know if i am wayyyy wrong
