I don't do this myself, but my fiance struggles with something similar. He checks his thyroid and lymph nodes often. Luckily he has greatly improved over the past few months. He went on Prozac and takes Xanax as needed. He is now taking Prozac less often, as it was giving him some side effects (I take it myself and love it). If his anxiety is really bad one day, he takes the Xanax and it helps him relax. Together, we tried to set up a reasonable frequency to check everything. I suggested we try checking once a day at first, and gradually got down to once a week. I had to remind him that prodding around too much can actually cause some swelling! It's definitely not something easy to get over. I can see how difficult it is for a person to have health anxiety. I think it's best to take baby steps and improve little by little!
For you, what do you find most helpful and reassuring from other people? Sometimes I struggle with the right things to say or ways I can help!
