Does an SDTV affect a PS3 animations?

In NBA 2k9 when i shoot with Calderon or do a certain type of dunk, the shorts on the player would foldup/ crumple/ disappear. Is this because of me playing a PS3 on a SDTV? so if i got an HD would that make fix tthe glitch?
