Well going by the history books, I think so, he helped to abolish slavery etc, but being in Britain my knowledge may be limited! Not keen on the beard though!

Lincoln was an example that anything was possible. That anyone could be president. Poor,bare foot, raised in a log cabin in the woods, learned by reading borrowed books by fire light, Not to mention his accomplishments as president such as ending slavery. He was also know for his common sense attitude and understanding the common class point of view. (no middle class at the time)
