Does a Mazda Miata come with roll bars?

I'm looking to buy a Mazda Miata. Since it's a convertible, I will probably install roll bars for safety. Behind each seat of the newer models is something that looks like a roll bar. The salesman said it was a roll bar, but I think it might just be a cool-looking "decoration." Is this a real roll bar?
 
The sales man was right ...

The new Miata's (Mk III) have working roll bars and some of the Mk II had rollbars (like the Mazdaspeed) as well Just about none of the Mk I's had them.

There are plenty of aftermarket places that make them for the worlds best selling sports car..
