So, if I ride my low end hybrid bike (a Giant FCR3) which weights about 20 lbs with 700cx32 tires and has a flat bar for X miles at X level of effort and then I ride a much lighter road bike with slimmer tires and aerodynamic drop bars for the same distance and level of effort . . . just how much faster would I probably go? One mile per hour or 5 miles per hour faster?
Also how much does the gearing play into it if you are an entry level rider? I mean, you can only push what your legs are strong enough to push. I would think that gearing becomes a greater concern as the rider gets stronger and can push the tougher gears.
