...only during running? trying to figure out if the fuel pressure regulator in my 1999 van (350 vortec)
is responsible for difficult starting *only during cold months*. Does the fuel pressure
regulator have any function during cranking, or does it only operate after the engine
is running. (The problem is difficult starting in the winter months only, taking 2, 3,
and 4 cranks sometimes. Summer time it starts right away.)
I also have a severe hesitation and lean-out condition that I suspect is a separate
problem because I had it before the starting problem first started.
Greetings Joseph
I thought the temp sensor would only
effect quality of drivability? Besides
that a defective temp sensor would
show up as a ECM error. I have no
error codes showing. What ever the
problem, it is not monitored by the ECM
because there are no error codes to
report.
Gretings Hank,
I already tried several fuel filters
over the past 3 months. No change.
The fuel pump burnt out last year
and i replaced it with a HQ NAPA
fuel pump. about a week after the new pump, the difficult cold weather starting
became evident. (before that it always
started right away, first shot)
Greetings mdk68gto,
Oil smells fine. There is no vacumm
line on a fuel regulator of a 350 vortec
because it is located under the
top manifold. (very hard to get to)
I basically need to know symptoms
related to defective FPR. Tests
that I can run on the regulator, to rule it
in or out. (remember no vacumm line so
the fuel sucking doesn't happen in a vortec) There is no evidence of rich
running. Rather the van feels like it leans
out under WOT conditions.
