...paper.? I'm just wondering, I read somewhere that all a cheque needs is the prerequisites of a check such as payer, payee, amount, account number...etc in order for a bank to tender it. Is this true? By this I mean to ask, if I forgot my cheque-book at home and had a piece of paper, could I simple write all the information onto that paper and it'll be accepted just fine at the bank? Any exceptions? Does this ever happen? Would the bank refuse the cheque for any reason under any circumstance?

And on a second note, remember those huge cheques you see given out whenever someone wins the lottery or some other cash prize? Can you actually bring those to the bank and get them cashed? Or is that simply for the novelty and then the recipients are then given a standard cheque offscreen?
