does a 3g sim card work in a Cingular phone?

Hello I had a LG Vu for 2 years and it finally bit the dust so my dads girlfriend got a free phone a Sony Ericsson from Cingular and I was wondering will my 3 G Sim card work in the Sony Ericsson? ( I currently have At&t )
