Does a 2006 Ford Mustang need an airbag replacement?

A few months ago the airbag light began coming on after a few minutes of driving and staying lit until the car was shut off. I took into a dealer who advised the side airbag be replaced for $570.

I took the car into another dealer about a year ago due to a passenger air bag recall that required the restraint control module to be reprogrammed. I am not sure if this may be related.

This car has never been in an accident or had any damage.
 
airbags used to have a use by date believe it or not! but they've long since rectified it.theres no way a four year old car needs a bag replaced
