I have a 1990 mazda miata and i'm wondering if the car is equipped with alarm and/or keyless entry system would i call it or both. When my car was first bought by my brother in 2002 i thought i saw that it came with a keyless entry remote or something like that, but i don't think it ever worked. Also, currently inside the car right on the console box right in between the cup holder and the arm rest box there is a small obvious red bulb that usually shown in other cars that flashes or stays on until the car is unlocked with a remote.
I just want to know if the car originally came with a keyless entry alarm system. And In my opinion, I think it is disconnected or disabled. I don't have no clue at all.
Any personal or professional experience or knowledge?...
Thanks alot

The 1990 Miata came in three models.

Base model - Manual steering, 14-inch steel wheels and no radio
Package A - Power-assisted steering, leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminum alloy wheels and cassette stereo with anti-theft coding
Package B - A items plus cruise control, power windows and headrest speakers

Your car has had some mods made to it.

- No keyless entry
- No alarm system
- No cup holder (I suspect your brother, or the previous owner, replaced the ashtray with a cup holder)
- No red bulb in the arm rest.

I can't say if there was an option on that or not.
I also have a 90 that I think at one time had an alarm. There was a place for the bulb, switches on the trunk and a module plugged into the ECM.
To tell you the truth I don't know what good one would do. The first thing I remember being told about a convertible is do not leave anything in sight, or even lock the doors. Because if any one wants to try to steal it they will just knife the top to get in. Which is why a remote opening trunk is not something I want on my drop tops.
But to the point, Kelly Blue Book does not list one as an option, so I think not.

Some do and some do not.
It depends if it had that option.

The blinking light does mean it has a security system.
