Dodgy doctor or what?

Maybe he is not, but I've met a few over my time and while they aren't "dodgy", they try to sell you products they get a commission from.

So, I have "hormonal" acne. Nothing has shown up in the many blood tests I've had, but when I was about 24 I started to get painful breakouts around my jawline. I take doxycycline for it which helps but not 100%.

My skin is sensitive, combination dry/oily.

Anyway, today I went to get a new script for the doxycycline because I had ran out. I had to go to a different doctor because my usual one was booked out. The new dr was saying how he likes to find the cause of things. He was saying how I should stop eating carbs and just eat protein, vegetable and fat... Which there is no way I could stick to that long term. Then he was saying something about iodine deficiency and acne and he pulled out a bottle of iodine and wiped it on my upper arm. He told me let him know how long it took to fade... Why did he do this?

I'm thinking he may be wanting to sell me products?

Any ideas?
I eat a healthy balanced diet. I thought it was near impossible to have an iodine deficiency in a western country?

I guess all I can do is follow through with his request and if he tries to sell me stuff I will tell him to naff off!

Thanks for the answers so far :-)
