I'm thinking of buying my first tuner car and I'm debating whether to get the srt-4 or wrx. I know that the wrx sti is better then the wrx but i can't afford an sti at the moment. Which car is better in performance and has better after market parts? these are the ones i found in my area

2004 Subaru Impreza WRX wagon body with 60k miles on it for $13,495

2004 Dodge Neon SRT4 with these extras Mopar 3" Catback Exhaust, AEM Guages: Tru-Boost Controller, Air-to-Fuel Ratio,Voltage. Ceterline Wheels, Yokohama tires w/less than 10K mi.,Turbo timer, New brakes and calipers, Viper Racing Seats, Ipod/Itrip plug, with 64k miles on it for $9,900

Ive owned both. I have had a brand new srt4 and now own a 2008 wrx and imo I say go and spend the extra cash on the wrx. I'm not a fan of the wagon but its still a wrx. The srt's are a little faster stock but they break.... a lot! and I wouldn't buy a car with that much aftermarket stuff already on it unless I knew who I was getting it from. The wrx will last longer and has endless tuning potential. Plus its got the awd if it snows out where you are. I live in NE and without good snow tires the srt is a pain to drive in the snow because its so light.

I agree with the guy above. When I bought my first WRX in late 01, I loved the car but thought it had a lot of creaks and rattles. But I was so happy with the performance for the money, I looked past it. A little later a friend bought an SRT-4. That thing was like driving a coffee can with pebbles in it. Everything made noise and I was actually afraid to drive it. And yes it did spend a lot of time having warranty work done. The WRX's are not perfect but get a little better each year since then. Your insurance will be a lot better with a wagon than a sedan too. I don't know why because it's the same car but my 06 wagon is almost half what the 02 was.
