I immediately pulled into a gas station about 500 yards away and used water to cool it, and also added oil because it may have been low. This was about 3 hours ago, and when i turn the car on now it seems fine...but it is sitting idly. I am supposed to drive 70 miles for work tomorrow, and i'm wondering if it will be ok. Please help me ASAP I would really like some advice since I don't know anything about enjines, and I need to work tomorrow! Thank you!
Ok...I'm not exactly sure why it overheated in the first place. My guess is that it was caused be low oil or low coolant. I had been driving it all day with no problems...other than the fact my heat took longer than usual to warm up this morning, but I didn't think anything of it at the time.
On my way home from work everything seemed normal then all of a sudden the temp. shot up, and it wasnt running smoothly. 2 minutes later i stalled at a light, and it took a few tries for the engine to turn over. After cooling with water and adding oil the temp was still warm but it wasnt stalling.
It has now been sitting for a few hours and sounds fine when i start it, but I'll let it run for a while now to double check.
But does this sound like a serious problem or just a lack of fluids at the time? would it be likely i caused serious damage? should i not drive it tomorrow? any more advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks
