I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport with 130,000 miles on the engine. I keep up oil changes every 3 months and minor repairs as needed. My check engine light keeps coming on every two weeks or so. I take it to my mechanic and it's always something just came loose and it turns off, then about 2 weeks later I'll be driving down the road and it goes on again. I also noticed this last time (don't know if it's related) that before it did that the temp light went down to cold. No other lights go on and the engine does not heat up and it seems to drive just fine. Any ideas as to why this is happening and what might be looked at? My mechanic doesn't seem to get it to the point where the light will stay off and I've had it to him 3 times in the last 6 weeks for the same issue. (He didn't charge me anything the last 2 times I took it though).
My mechanic scans it when I take it in, he told me that much.

Take it to a parts store and have them hook their computer to it and see exactly why the light is coming on. They will diagnose it free.

anything that happens will set the light to come on ,especially on the newer ones,if he has scanned it and doesn't get no codes from it you may have to wait for it to set a permanent code before you can get this one fixed, that can be an intermittent problem causing that, and until it acts up and stays on its going to be real hard to find, you can only find problems while they exist, when their not present on the vehicle they are almost impossible to find, good luck.
