dodge durango 99 trouble......again?

my 99 dodge durango 5.2 V8 mag was having trouble a couple weeks ago with misfiring well we replace a whole bunch of crap and finally eliminated everything but the computer. well we replaced the computer and it ran like new. the only thing we had left to fix was the alternator wire cuz it burnt up. well today i spent all day replacing my regular alternator with an upgraded alternator and an upgraded wire(4 gauge) i ran the wire correctly tightened everything got it running again and didnt have any problems. well i was driving and i was going into a left turn into a driveway and my steering wheel got firm and i couldnt turn it then i tried pushing the gas cuz i was in the middle of the highway well that didnt work either but my momentum carried me into the driveway and i realized the car had died well i put it in park tried to crank it and it tried to turnover but it didnt well i let it sit and it crank after a minute or two ran jus fine until i put it in drive drove about 20 feet to park it and it cut off again well i called my dad and it took about 10 minutes before he got there he jumped in cranked it right up and he drove it jus like i did and nothing went wrong. well he thought it was alright to drive and left me at my friends grampas house well i got in it and took it around a field in the backyard a couple of times and i was like ok ya it runs let me go park it. well on my way back into the front yard it did it again. well i was like ok i gotta get home i dont want to be broke down so my friend followed me home and i was going down the highway and the check engine light came on the steering got hard and the gas wasnt going when i pressed it well that lasted about two seconds then the light wen off and it was back to normal. idk wat else it could be i will give a list on wat all i replaced. please help.thanks
