dodge duraggo 2000 wont lock into 4 wheel or come out of neutral?

OK... it was fine until about a month ago.. and my wife said it would not stay in gear. Its an automatic but you can switch from 4 hi to 4 wheel to 4 lo. I switch it to 4 lo in order to pull a car out of the ditch and notthing... its like it went into neutral and won't come out... any suggestions?
