dodge dakota v8 need help with unpluged hoses?

hey on the driver side of the engine there is a disconected hose about 3/4 inch and 90 degree angle on the end i folowed the tube down to a black box about midway down the truck underneath on the drivers side. what is this box and were does the hose connect inside the engine bay? also pretty much directly below the throttle assembly on the engine about 2-3" down there is a small hose that comes out the side of the engine at a 90 degree angle that has been disconected and pluged. does anyone know where it goes to? I bought this truck second hand so i have no idea where the hoses originally went to and why the smaller one would have been plugged instead of reconected, any help would be awsome tell me if more detail is needed towards the location of the hoses
