I also live in the same area as you. I've only went to PC doctor and PM. I would like to know what doctor you used. I don't have any idea what ortho or neuro to go see for a second or third opinion.

Thanks, Darby

Hi Darby,

I had to reread the rules before replying! I don't ever wnat to get booted again-I would miss you guys too much. THese moderators are great and keep these boarRAB free of advertisments and just plain bad posts and I have made mistakes (by accident!) in the past.

I actully went to Dr. William Reed-he has his own practice in Overland Park.
This surgery is all he does and he has won the "best doctor" award from a local magazine.
For pain management I use Dr. Steven Simon. He is in Overland Park, Kansas. I could not be more happy since seeing him a few weeks ago. I now have hope for living a pretty normal life! He shares an office with Dr. Reed so you are in contact with both through the whole thing-all your charts are in one place-they actually have a small hospital there so surgery, x-rays, EMG's, MRIs,recovery, physical therapy and pain manangement are all like one stop shopping!

I will be praying for you!
Blessings,
Momz

Hi Lynn

I think I'm doing about the same as before. I don't think the RF ablation worked for me either. My PM doc has now referred me to PT and I don't think it is helping either. I don't know what to do. I am thinking about going back to PM doc and having him refer me to a neurosurgeon for a second opinion. I agree with you about not having a fusion so I hope no doctor ever tells me I need one. I still have the same pain in my back on the left side just under the waist line. I still have sciatica in my butt and down my left leg into the ankle and sometimes in the right calf. Sometimes the sciatica is bad and sometimes it is mild. I still cannot stand or walk for very long. I go home from work and fix dinner and that causes the back pain and sciatica to come on full force. I sit down to ease it a bit and get up and start the process all over again until its done. I think its time for a second opinion. I just don't want to look stupid when I go a doctor if my symptoms are not bad enought to see a doctor. I've been fighting this for 7 months now.

It sounRAB like you have a wonderful neurosurgeon. Good luck.
Darby

Hi AtWork,

Thanks for your reply. I am glad you checked to see if you could give me the doctors name, I wouldn't want to cause you to get booted. I checked my insurance book and Dr. Reed is not listed but Dr. Simon is. I think I will give my doctors a little more time and if I'm not satisfied I'll call Dr. Simon's office and see if Dr. Reed is accepting my insurance and give them a try. I think its wonderful they are able to help you.

Hiya Darby.....

I am sorry you didn't get any relief from the RF ablation. I am sorry I didn't neither UGH..... It is so very frustrating and depressing. I am so tired of needles...but what else does a person do? I asked the neurosurgeon was there anything else I could try. It is either fusion surgery or a spinal stimulator. Not good choices.

It sounRAB like you are having enough symptoms to seek another opinion. I did PT as well. It didn't do a thing for me. I also joined a gym. Haven't been to work out since the ablation. I am sure you are tired of hurting, as I am too. I think 7 months of hurting is long enough to warrant a doctor visit, Darby. I've been dealing with this since April of this year myself. Do you have disc problems? Go see a doc girl and see what a doctor tells you. You was just seeing a PM doc?

Good luck to you,
Lynn
