doctors in nyc that specialize in chronic cough problems

I have a chronic cough for many years. It has gotten extremly worse. I have gone to a lung doctor and a few ear,nose and throat doctors. Anything they have given me it has not worked at all. I am desperatley seeking a doctor that could help me. My symptoms are that I cough day and night. For no reason. I cough so bad that my chest feels like it is going to fall out of me. It is so erabarrasing. I try not to laugh because then I start coughing.
 
I can't give you the name of a NY doctor, but do have some questions.

Have you had allergy testing?

Have you had testing for reflux?

I had a chronic cough for years. It took finding a Pulmonologist and Gastroenterologist and ENT who would work together. The ENT helped me with my allergies. The Pulmonologist treated my asthma and diagnosed that I also had "silent" reflux which was irritating my lungs and flaring the asthma. By the way, my asthma symptom was a chronic cough.

I recommend you read up on LPR on the internet and search this website. There is a lot of good information. The cough could be a symptom of LPR. If that is the case, you need to aggressively try to treat the reflux as well. Not all doctors really believe in this as a condition. In looking for help, you would want to search out a doc who treats LPR if the symptoms of this match yours.

By the way, the main causes of a dry chronic cough are allergies, PND, asthma and reflux.
