All Day

My husband fell ill after myself in Feb with what we both thought was flu. He was working both days and nights the first week of the illness and had only 4hours sleep. He was ill for just over 3 weeks with fever, cough, sore throat and muscle ache. During this period he went from 16 1/2st to 14 1/2st but wasnt eating very well so we just put this down to that (he normally has a huge appetite).
Since then he has lost weight and is down to 13st but had his appetite back after the illness.

Ever since then he has felt tired on and off but he had started a night job finishing at 4 and has been getting up at 8.30 to take our son to nursey (due to me being very ill with morning sickness) and comes home and gains a further 2-3hours of sleep. He also started having chills with a mild fever on and off around 5pm and very recently started gaining back pain in his lower back either side of his spine around the same time. Chills disappear but back pain doesnt always without pain killers.

About 3 weeks ago managed to push him to visit his doc who sent him for blood tests, when he phoned for his results he was told nothing was really amiss by another doc due to his doc being on holiday. About 4 days later he received a letter from his docs sending him to have another set of blood tests which confused us as he was told all was ok! The tests were FBC, CRP and ESR. He called the surgery to be told by ANOTHER doc that he had slight anemia and that they were just double checking that. Following day he gets a call from you guessed it another doc saying she had taken his case over and that she wanted him to come in to check him herself and that the bloods were showing inflammatory markers, she said that she had no idea what it could be and couldnt let me know what she was looking for (paranoid pregnant wife here). She sent him on tues for a chest xray but have yet to hear back but on thurs got a call to say she wanted to send him to a hematologist even though she said she had no results on the xray and still no further idea what it could be! The only thing she could say is that she didnt think the xray was serious as she felt she would have heard the results by now. Does this sound normal?

Is this all normal things being pushed this fast?

The past few days the back pain seems to have been more common and yesterday he had a temp of 106 but wasnt acting any different, I managed to get it down quickly and he was well enough to still stuff his face.

Please can someone help me and maybe give me an idea of what they think this could be as guessing as unhelpful as the docs seem to be it will be at least another 3 weeks of worrying and stressing over it which I know isnt both fair on my husband and good for the stress for my baby.

Thanks for reading my essay HELP

Just a fast question first. You said his temp was 106*...is that Farenheit....don't you in England usually use Celsius?( grew up in Canada at a time when we used both).

A temp of 106*F is very serious and he should have gone to an Emergency room or clinic. Not much higher and you get brain damage so don't let it get that high again.

He could have almost anything but the thing that pops out at me(since I have rheumatoid arthritis) is a form of arthritis that is inflammatory that tends to hit young men and hits their lower backs and the sacro-illiac joints on either side of the lower spine(in the pelvis). They may have done the chest X-rays to rule out pneumonia.

If this is what they are looking at, it has been caught early and is very treatable so don't worry.

But do watch that fever.....not good to go too high!

good luck and let us know..................Jenny

As I am now turning into a full worry pot does anyone think it could be Lymphoma, just a bit worried as stupidly read a few articles online which pointed it straight to that.
