Do your symptoms change daily?

I see a lot of people mention having the same symptoms day in and out. Just curious as mine always seem to be changing. For instance, if I'm getting "heartburn" then I'm not having a sore throat. Then, it seems when the heartburn subsides, I have a sore throat for a few days. If I'm not having a sore throat or heartburn, then I'm getting a lot of discomfort in my stomach, under my ribs, and even mild cramping. Anyone else experience this?

Yes, my symptoms change daily. I have both upper(GERD) and lower (IBS) GI issues (chest pains, hoarseness, mucus in my throat, lots of burping, achy pain in left upper quadrant, belly spasms) so it is hard to know what is causing the problem. What amazes me is how I will eat the same thing one day and have no problems and then another day be absolutely miserable. I keep a journal to track what I eat but sometimes cannot figure out what is making me suffer.

I agree with Susie. It makes it very hard to figure out what fooRAB bother me b/c sometimes I'm totally fine and other times I'm feeling terrible.

I also seem to have different symptoms that come and go. I guess it's normal with GI issues.

I would agree as well. Keeping a food diary can be helpful, but sometimes you really have to look deep and also look at what you had the DAY BEFORE. I find that often I can "be bad" with my eating and think all is well, and then a day or two later, I feel the effects. It took me a while to figure this out but I think, for me, it is true. Likewise, some triggers can give me symptoms for days, so if you can figure out the triggers, keep that in mind....it's not always an instant reaction, and it's not always about what you ate on that particular day.

When my symptoms "act up", I find I do have to be particularly careful about what I eat and don't eat in order for the symptoms to subside within a few days. Sometimes, it has taken a week. After the irritation starts, then things that didn't bother me much before can bother me. Does that make sense? Think of it like a blister from raking......you don't usually feel it until after, and if it heals, then you can go rake again in a week or so. But if you rake the next day, the blister will get worse and it will take longer for it to heal. It's not the same mechanism as what causes reflux, but the outcome can be similar.......
